A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
I am thinking of doing a video for Youtube of a tune that I have just re-learned having forgotten it over the years. The problem is that I am in a quandary as to what I should call it. The tune is " The Comical Coons ". by Emile Grimshaw. The word 'Coon' has no hidden meanings here in Australia it is just a brand name for one of our favourite chedder type cheeses, named after it's inventor, Mr. William Coon, but I know that in America it can cause offense to certain members of the population. So what should I call it on Youtube, Komical Koons perhaps, or Comical Toons. I know that the inserting of the word 'banjo' sometimes substitutes, but somehow 'The comical banjos' doesn't seem right. The last one I put up on Youtube was called 'Ole Sambo', I got around this by saying it was played by 'Ole Raybo'. I suppose the easiest way out is just not to bother, and play The Comical Coons to my hearts content in my banjo room, that would be a boon.
