THE JOVIAL HUNTSMAN by Olly Oakley... and how to play it!

Here is a track performed by Olly Oakley. I do not know the year, but it has been suggested that it was recorded around 1916. Maybe Dave Wade will have more information?

It is a little rough at the start, but gets better into the record. Jovial Huntsman is a superb, and easy to play composition by the master, Joe Morley.

I have produced a beginners’ lesson on “The Jovial Huntsman”  and it is now on the LEARN TO PLAY page on the website.

Ollie Oakley's drive and flair could make even the simplest pieces shine. It's great to see that Joe's output was recorded even though he didn't have a chance to cut all that many commercial records!

This is your American Dave Wade Impersonator responding. According "The Banjo On Record" (Heier & Lotz) Olly Oakley recorded The Jovial Huntsman for Winner Records "London, ca April 1917".
