I would suggest either Chris Sands 'heavy' nylons or Aquila Nylgut "classic" medium set. Both are available from Elderly Instruments.

Bridge should be 1/2" tall, light and simple (originals were two-footed). No need for an ebony top with nylon. I like the "Morris" 5-footed bridges available from Elderly but you'll need to modify a 5/8" to fit (try it at 5/8" and then cut it down as needed).

Looks like someone is still not a member of the American Banjo Fraternity.  If you were you would have read a fascinating article on bridges in the last issue of the 5-Stringer.

Hi Joel,
Yes, I need to remedy that and join. Thanks for all the advice. I noticed that I had posted a similar request recently, please forgive me for being redundant.

Join and I'll personally make sure you get a copy of that article!  (PS you also get to be part of a group that connects back directly to all of our banjo heroes and access to even more music than what you can find here.)

Hi Joel,
You sold me. Can I sign up with you? If so, how do I proceed. I saw the form online to print and mail in, but can I sign up and pay online?
Thanks. I look forward to joining the fraternity!
Also, I need a new bridge for my Stewart. Any detailed suggestions welcomed. I know you don't make them anymore. I just purchased a set of Aquila Classic Nylgut strings as well. Richard
Hi Richard, send me a PM and I'll give you more info on who to contact. They accept PayPal now. We can discuss a bridge too.
Joel, Sent you a friend request. Wasn't able to PM you yet.
