Hi there in banjo land. Can anyone recommend some tuning pegs that light weight but still good tuners? Best regards Morten

Violin type friction pegs will be the lightest (and cheapest excluding fitting).

I like the Richard Kuenstler pattern (pictured) that were made into the 1960s and are fairly easy to find.  These fit right into tapered holes.

My third favorite are the Champion pegs.  The old ones are slightly better than the new, but the new ones still work.  Grover also still makes a very good fifth peg but you might need to change the button to match.

Geared pegs are all going to be heavy, but the least annoying are the so called “pancake” style that are two to one.  These are no longer made so you will have to go with used.

The geared pegs that pretend to be violin type are kinda dumb and expensive.  I’ve known people to have problems with them as well.
