This tune became one of the most popular of the ragtime era with sales eclipsing two million copies. What makes this more remarkable is that AS was entirely self taught, playing only by ear, she couldn't read a note of music.  In the summer of 1907, she played it for the music publisher Joseph Flanner of Milwaukee, who had it transcribed and published. She wrote a further two rags which are on my to do list and one march. They sold well but neither were as successful as P&P. After marrying Frederic Olson in 1910, she settled down to family life and gave up her musical career.

The first section is similar in structure to my previously posted Carpet Rags by using 1/16 rests to produce a staccato syncopation. It's tricky to play so making use of the midi would be a good idea. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.
