A big thank you to Marc Smith for producing tablature for Morley's compositions "Apple Blossoms" and "Butterfly".

Marc sent these to me at the weekend and I have added them to the MUSIC LIBRARY.

So now you can go to the "Works of Joe Morley" page, listen to the piece being played and view the score AND the Tab... so no excuse not to play these!!

Only 250 to go Marc :-))

LOL. I have been doing TAB for JMs stuff almost since I started. I can't recall if I did "Banjoland" or "A Joy Ride" first.

I never really thought about doing all of them, I simply do the ones I like. Having the Library's MIDI has given me more to like...so off I go! I wish I was smart enough to use the pre-existing MIDI...but though TablEdit will import MIDI, I end up having to touch nearly every note anyway, so it is sometimes just as fast to key it in manually, note for note.

Butterfly has been on my 'to-do' list ever since I got the TB recordings of JM playing. There's one where he and the piano player have their music mixed up and he ends up playing either Blackbird or Butterfly (I can't remember which). I don't have the dots to 'Blackbird'...

I'll send you "A Sea Breeze" soon...and as many others I can dig out. The early ones were done for my use only and they require 'cleaning up' to post for general use, etc.

I don't usually TAB the 2nd parts unless someone requests them (or I need them, which is rare).

And as usual, I'm always open for requests!

I just had a count of my JM tabs...52. David Wade's JM website puts JMs output at 238, so I've only 186 to go! =8^0

Hi Marc,

I was only joshing about doing ALL the TABs...  just a hundred or so will do ;-)

When I started the MUSIC LIBRARY agreed with Clem at CE Music Co. Ltd. that I would only post "public domain" notation scores and that I would not post TAB  for any of the newly re-published work solos. CE have done a lot of work producing modern tablature and do a great job supporting Classic Banjo players around the world.

You will notice that in the MUSIC LIBRARY when there is a re-published solo I add a link to Clifford Essex Co.,

...so please do support them if you want a modern, clean crisp and up-to-date score!!

I try to check the CE website before I send you a TAB. I have held back a number of them when I found out they already had them available. I try to support them as much as possible...generally by buying their excellent gut string sets. Music, I got. ;-)
