A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
I have been sent another CD of early banjo related photographs, and have now uploaded nearly 70 new photographs to our TIME MACHINE.
These are meant for your entertainment and not as a historical reference. Many are photographic studio poses from a time long ago when the banjo was everyone’s favourite instrument!
Some are pieces of history many are just for fun… enjoy!
Go to the "TIME MACHINE" and all the "NEW" photos are at the top of the page.
Click on any photo to start a slideshow.
You can pause the show at any time too!

Wow, great stuff. Whoever did the labeling has made an error. One of the first new photos is labeled "Frailing banjo", but the hand position does not match the description. Frail like this and you break your little finger, and maybe break the vellum as well.
Great stuff as usual! I love the shot of the NCBO sneaked in there, they really look like they've just jumped out of the time machine!
Hahahahahaha, "paddle faster"; "plant needs watering"... the captions are comedy gold!
Jody,
When I saw the photo of the banjo I labelled it "Frailing Banjo" as opposed to "Frailing Banjoist" or "Banjoist, Frailing" as the instrument has a number of the higher frets missing from the fingerboard. Not being and expert on Clawhammer, frailing (or much in general, really) I labelled it as I did.
This is another case of the photographers poetic licence when it comes to studio shots and should not be taken too seriously!
It still looks like a "frailing banjo" to me!
