More, extremely rare, Fred Van Eps recordings from the 1950s.

Here are another two tracks from the album that Rainer Lanselle very kindly has offered to share with the Classic Banjo community.

The first track is entitled “Divertissement”, but I do not know the composer. I know that F. Sor did compose a piece entitled Divertissement, but this is not it… anyone help?

I don’t need to say that Van Eps plays it brilliantly… but he just does!

DIVERTISSEMENT played by Fred Van Eps

The second track is an absolutely superb piece banjo playing from a player of any age, and for Van Eps at almost 80 years old, simply amazing.  His son, Robert’s piano accompaniment brings the piece to life to with some great “flourishes”.

I have a copy of the manuscript arrangement by Fred Van Eps and have added this to the MUSIC LIBRARY.

I just love it and hope you will too.   :-)

His playing of Divertissement reminds me a lot of that other late great octogenarian, Bill Ball. When heard FVE playing, I could imagine to myself that it was Bill playing....Steve.
