(I received this message today from David, so please message him if you are interested in his banjo.)
The time has now come when I wish to sell my classic 5 string banjo. This banjo was made by Sidney Young who was employed as a luthier by The Weaver Co. Sidney Young died in 1964, I believe. He made this banjo for the well known John Alvey Turner company which is clearly marked on the perch-pole. Originally it had friction pegs which I still have, but they were difficult to use effectively, so I had good quality geared tuners as replacements.

The luthier who replaced the old tuners and re-fretted the instrument advised me to seek a price of £850.

I can no longer play finger style. I have some arthritis in my right hand fingers.

Should make someone a nice playing banjo.  It would be informative to know if the "Luthier" matched the original frets or just used modern guitar fret wire which is much larger.

My "banjo funds" are all tapped out as I recently got a 12" Weaver (that is actually engraved with a date- 1910) with birdseye neck in very good condition for $725US all in (meaning including shipping from Germany).  So that might give the seller an idea or pricing.

There has also been an 11" Weaver on Ebay UK with no takers for £414.72.
