Is it just me or does something look odd here?

I spotted this CE Special on Ebay.

It is a nice looking banjo for classic style, but can anyone see anything a little odd?

Perhaps I should elaborate....

Why does the grain of the wood run at a different angle on the back of the peghead to the rest of the neck?

I think what you are seeing is a product of the flat cut (to make the peghead) vs the 'round' neck. The grain probably runs diagonally (vs perpendicular to the fingerboard) thru the whole neck and you don't see that in the handle portion.

Makes it look like it takes a 'right turn' at the peghead, doesn't it?

and wood & grain seems to be the same on neck & DS ; same piece of wood ; Weaver
