I see that we have another new member - a very warm welcome to you and to all the other recent people who have signed up to this discussion group. I’ve not been here for quite a while as I work much better ‘behind the scenes’ as the reallynicelady. I like to remain in the background rather than in the spotlight.

No, I don’t play the banjo but I do hear about everything that happens on this site. I witness the hard work and enthusiasm of the reallyniceman, who strives, day after day to bring news, information and discussion topics to all the members and visitors here. I hear about all the responses, activity and postings each day and see the delight when a topic stirs up and enthuses members so that they make comments, suggestions and discussion points of their own. I also ask questions about the site and so I thought that I’d ‘pop in’ a bit more often with a question or two for you all. I know the people who contribute regularly will be willing to respond and I hope that those members who are ‘in the background’ will brave the spotlight and put in their ‘two penn’orth’. Here we go -

Many people have joined Classic Banjo Ning in the last year. In order to become a member they had to answer several questions to show their interest in the banjo whether it be collecting, playing or just appreciating the instrument.

Why did you sign up to become a member of this site?

Was it -

for some specific piece of information?

to be among like minded people?

to advertise yourself or your wares?

to learn from others?

Or was it for some other reason?

Please discuss. :)

Shameless self promotion!

Really, to be among like minded people and discuss my favorite hobby.

"to lean from others?"  -- heck yes.

I second Joel's comment (except the part about "Shameless self promotion." I'm so far from being ready to self-promote!) What I've found is that the site is layered with amazing information. If you love this sort of music, there's no where comparable. So my main incentive was/is to learn.
