Hi All -- been lurking a bit, first time post.  On and off banjo player for the last 15 or so years, partially because I never found a style that worked for me until I found this website!

I have a specific way I like to learn instruments, who knows, and the Herbert Ellis tutor I downloaded from this site is absolutely perfect.  It was like opening my banjo third eye.  Enjoying working through it so much, and feel confident that on completion I'll be able to go back to attack the Morley tutor.

I had been so frustrated working through a lot of modern banjo method books (there are fantastic books for tenor banjo! I've been playing through those on my 4 string cello banjo) but not much out there that resonated with me for the old 5 string until now.  Anyway, just pleased.  Thanks for the tutor, and thanks for this amazing website.

Good to hear from you, Joshua. Yes, the Ellis method is good. I’ve been going through it with a student of mine. Fun tunes, and good exercises.

Welcome Joshua, Thanks for the kind words about the website. I learned using the Grimshaw 's "How to Play" and "How to excel".  I didn't use Morley that much, but they are all there in TUTOR BOOKS to choose  from!

Good luck and have fun. There are plenty of players on here who will be delighted to answer any questions that you may have.  Do post your progress!

I just perused the first of the Grimshaw tutors and what a resource -- all these old tutors are so great.  I'll definitely be taking a proper look through the Grimshaw later.
