This rag was composed by Sweeley, a trombonist with the Rapasz band, and arranged for piano by Harry Lincoln. In 1910, The Jim Crow Rag, written Lizzie Mowen, was published. Whether by coincidence or plagiarism, the two tunes are almost identical albeit that there are a few small differences in the trio and final parts of Jim Crow.
There is even similar percussion passage in both, shown between bars 76/80 on the score of Hokey Spokes for which I've added a suitable sound effect on the midi. I've suggested on the score to either tap out the rhythm on the velum or play the notes as shown, both of which work. I've done a bit of mix and match in my arrangement plus a few bits of my own. Both tunes are available on Google for comparison. The score and midi are in the library. I was unable to find a title page....Steve.
