Some years ago I purchased the above from David Miles. Since his recent demise, does anyone know if his books are still available? I also have 'pop goes the banjo' and both books were expertly put together by David and are entirely hand written. The ragtime book has 100 of the most popular rags and I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet seen it.

David ran a very fine line with regard to copyright.

The orignal and all the rights associated with them, for all of David's work, the seven volume "Pop Goes the Banjo", the Ragtime Books, the Tutor etc were passed to Clifford Essex Music Ltd (and not presumptive plectrum banjoist).

I was given the remainder of David's stock to dispose of, which I have sold through my stall.

I still have copies of the "Banjo on a Sleigh Ride" - £9 to you Steve (or anyone else) plus p&p.

In 2009 David offered a new Cup to the Federation for the best interpretation of one of his arrangements. Unfortunatly the Judges at the 2010 misunderstood the instructions and awarded the Cup to somebody for playing a Morley piece.

David asked me to intersede on his behalf and "straighten" matters out.

We decided to limit the competition to one of 12 pieces from the 20s/30s era click here

http://www.banjomandolinguitar.org/rally.htm for the page and then click on the link for the syllabus - page 19 Competition 8a. A copy of the book of 12 arrangments can be obtained on loan from Sandra.

David and I agreed that I should be an adjuducator for the competition and he left me copious notes as to what he expected.

You would need to be a member of the Federation  to take part in the competition.

The situation with respect to copyright in the States is different and anyboody interested need to get in touch with Eli Kaufman who has photocopying masters.
