This work has been somewhat of an enigma for me. The copy available is just a notch above unreadable. From what I could read, it was a plectrum method but it always seemed incomplete.
A little context goes a long way. This method was a correspondence course. The work was individual pages that would be tied into an outer cover as one was sent them.
It seems that at one point Farland runs short on funds and the pages become Spirit Duplicated and handwritten with typed explanations. Then they stop.
There was also a set of examination sheets (also Spirit Duplicated and typed).
Here is what I believe to be a complete copy. Some of the Spirit Duplicate pages were so faded that they were not readable, but I was able to mess with the settings when scanned to make them somewhat usable.
This set of lessons was sent to Lonnie B. Hayes, a friend of Farland and banjoist who, at least in one program, shared the stage with Farland. In the next few weeks (I hope) I will be scanning some letters that Farland sent to Hayes as well as some handwritten manuscript by Farland (including what I believe is an unpublished composition dedicated to Hayes).
I know this is plectrum banjo, but it is "Farland" so I hope it is historically interesting.
