I can't help but think of the singing of John McCormack here, clearly an influence on the composer.

Lovely Rob - very pretty tune; almost like a chord melody arrangement. I thought 'this sounds familiar' and then realised it is on the Clive Palmer 'Banjoland' album. I have taken the Houghton zither banjo to The Banjo Works ('Andy Banjo') for some TLC so hopefully will have it back in a few weeks.
I didn't know about Clive's recording. I'll look out for it.
So, Carrie, what are your first thoughts on the Houghton?
Ah, everything is on youtube these days! Here's the late Clive's rendition, more to Ian's liking, I imagine :-)
I don't know why he misses out the valse section:
Well, Rob, it's hard to judge it really - the Houghton had the wrong strings and high-ish action but am sure it will be a good ZB once properly set-up. I will post updates.
I see Andy Banjo has stopped selling anything but his own brand banjos. He used to sell vintage instruments. I wonder why he has stopped.
