No visuals, I'm afraid, but beautiful zither-banjo music by the master of the genre, Alfred Cammeyer.

Wonderful interpretations of this rarely heard music. Thank you for sharing

Cheers, Bret. Glad you like it! You are correct in that it is indeed rarely heard, and I can’t fathom why that is still the case. I hope more people explore this freely available music (from this website), and the instruments are not expensive.

Glad to see that you are back in action, especially as the banjo world has suffered more than most during the lockdown and we need as many banjo players as possible to keep the vellums vibrating. Let's hope that someone takes over the organisation of the banjo rallies since  the very sad,  sudden and unexpected recent death of Dave Wade. I suppose that it will be next year before we can have a get together again so we all have plenty of time to do bit of practicing and learn some new tunes.

Thanks, Richard. David will be long missed, I'm afraid. Irreplaceable in many ways. We never met, but I was very impressed with his kindness and willingness to share his knowledge.

I have my fingers in too many musical pies to stick with one thing only. So when the compass points towards the banjo - zither or otherwise - I like to seize the moment and see what comes of it.

Wonderful to hear your beautiful banjo music again! I wasn't sure if you had entirely stopped or not so this is a lovely surprise. I am inspired to tackle some classic banjo again. As Bret and you say it's mystifying why this is not better known. Great stuff!

Cheers, Daniel. Good to hear from you. I certainly hope you do get stuck in to the classic style, as it does seem to be a very minority sport these days. We need all the players we can get. See you around!

Classic banjo should thrive. There does seem to be a 'which camp are you in?' mentality in the banjo world which I don't think promotes the instrument's potential and versatility in the slightest. I personally can't seem to stick to one style as I just love the banjo. The classic style is very challenging to learn and play well for me, but highly satisfying so I won't stop anytime soon!
