Rarely mentioned but what a superb Classic Style player Paul Cadwell was!! 

I just love the true "Classic Style" sound he gets from his banjo. He even makes Ragtime Episode sound good, and I have never really liked that tune.

I find it interesting that he holds the banjo between his thighs, something that goes against the orthodox playing of his teacher FVE (and the rest of the crew he ran with).

I find myself using this playing position along with a Spanish guitar foot rest (a copy of the CE from the 1960s-- or the original I have-- thank to Thereallyniceman).

Anyone care to write out what he is playing on the trio?  I'm not good enough to figure it out.

That position is good for people with long arms. It's impossible for me so I keep the banjo on my right leg just above the knee.
