The Syncopatin' Shuffle - Frank Lawes

Frank Lawes was a cool guy. He had a cool car. His music is cool. His titles just exude coolness. He also wrote some of the best solos for Classic Banjo ever composed -- such as this jazzy foxtrot, The Syncopatin' Shuffle.

And almost one year later, here it is again... this time, with piano accompaniment and less mistakes!

Good again Mike,

I am glad that you are a Frank Lawes convert. I have always loved his stuff. They just "sound" like banjo tunes. Very impressive performance!  My first video on the group was of me, dressed like a slob and gurning my way through Syncopatin' Shuffle. You are much more distinguished in dress sense and demeanour ... it's pity we can't bleedin' see you  :-)

If you want a bit more of a challenge, try Syncopatin' Shuffle. It is now available in the Music Library.

Hi Alan,

I get this sound from the heavy nylons (currently I'm using a heavy Clifford Essex set), thin maple bridge and playing very hard -- you can sometimes hear the strings clanging against the frets.

The piano helps a lot too... the trio part with the dotted quaver arpeggios is brilliant! Oddly enough, in Bill Ball's version they changed the piano accompaniment to something more simple in the trio part.
