It is great to hear real "live" playing. Your love for the music shines through.
The banjeaurine sounds great.
Excellent!!! Listened to it multiple times!
Well done!
Perhaps you'd share the sheet music with us? That's the Cyril Bernand piece from one of the J.A. Turners collections, right?
I have one niggle for you. ;-)
In the trio, you are rushing just a bit. The note just prior to the four repetative chords should have a nice, strong accent with the three chords acting as 'backup'. Ba-dum-ta-DUM-ba-dum-ba-dum. Ba-dum-ta-DUM-ba-dum-ba-dum...etc, etc. You're jumping just a smidge too quickly into the chords and not accentuating that lead-in note.
I envision a marching band for this stuff. The guy on bass drum would really whack that note hard. Another trick is to go all 'cartoon' on the accents. Hyper-accentuate them and have some fun with it...which is what a good marching band would do anyway.
That banjeaurine sounds great!
Thanks all. I appreciate the feedback and the helpful comments. I'm trying to get to grips with reading music scores and sometimes struggle with timing and emphasis - I am more of an 'ear' player I think...
p.s I forgot to say the score is available in The Herbert Ellis 'Thorough School for 5-String Banjo' which is downloadable on this site in the Tutor Books section. It's on the list of Grade 1 pieces in the VCM classic banjo syllabus so is a good one for beginners.
Aha! I do have that one (the Ellis tutor). I'll go look it up this evening. Thanks!
keep on keepin on picking
