Thank you for all the kind comments, unfortunately after many hours of practice it appears that Lynn and I were wasting our time!

All I needed to do was to buy one of these. ( A snip at $78,000 )

Ian, what type of Weaver is it?

Comment by thereallyniceman on November 6, 2014 at 14:49

Hi Michael,

It is an 11" spun over metal hoop Weaver, fitted with an ebony "Weaver" floating tailpiece, a Remo Renaissance head, a Morley type maple bridge and CE medium gauge nylon strings with a Chris Sands 4th string.

I don't know the exact age of the instrument, but it is a later one as it has tension nuts with an integrated ball end rather than a two part nut found on earlier instruments.

I love it. It feels and sounds good to me!

Ian and Lynn, I played this video last night as I was brushing my teeth and was so blown away by the performance that I almost woke my wife to play it for her. (I didn't, I'm smarter than that!). However, she heard it within five minutes of getting up this morning. The piece was 'Swonderful; Ian, I think your playing was the best you've ever done and Lynn, you were radiant! The accompaniment was right on. I've always used Palladium and Grace and Beauty when telling people about classic banjo. I think now I can just show one piece that fully shows all the aspects of classic banjo I've come to love. Thank you.

Hi Thomas,

I bet that you can feel the heat radiating from our blushing cheeks over there in Wyoming ;-)

Thanks for the kind words. Lynn says that you don't know just how many "takes" it takes to get an acceptable video without too much gurning and flashes of panic !  This one was a bit of a surprise to as both as you can tell by the reaction at the end... it was "in the can" at the second run through!

When is it your turn to face the one-eyed video monster??????

Ha! England and Wyoming will have to get a lot colder for that to happen (and it's supposed to be about -20C here on Tuesday!) is there a classic banjo version of "Skip to my Lou" available?

-20C? That's a warm day here in Blackpool. ;-)

Skip to my Lou? Not that I have ever heard, but it may be part of a medley somewhere. I will have a hunt.

Fine performance.  Loved the arrangement.  Finally got my youtube back on line to be able to

hear and enjoy your video.  Please keep them coming.  They are a real inspiration.

Ian, I couldn't hear you, you were being drowned out by your tie! :o) Seriously though, that was great, and I loved the arrangement.
