Six months after beginning to learn the banjo for the first time I can almost play through "Sunflower Dance" on my great grandfathers Windsor zither banjo.

Bravo! Absolutely first class playing, particularly as you have not been playing long!! Your banjo sounds good and your timing is very good too.

I also notice that you have developed the sign of a true and dedicated Classic Style player... the look of abject despair when you trip over a note near the end of a recording :-)

I have been playing for years and I do that all the time!

...Well done indeed !! What's next?

Well done Pip, that's always been one of my favourites and you played it very well. Do you know anything about your great grandfather's connection with banjo playing and any history of the instrument?...Steve.

Yes, great performance - you have good timing.  Is that a budgie dancing in the background?

Thanks! The look of despair is quite common to me :) I have also been plugging away at skeleton dance and Tired Tim while working through Emile Grimshaws book.

Thanks Steve. My Great-grandfather was a freelance artist and this banjo was his pride and joy. It was damaged quite a few years ago in a flood and has had a lot of restoration work to get it back in playing order. I will post a photo of a small exhibition which showed my great-grandfather and his banjo and art supplies.

Thanks Carrie ... yes! Our budgie is a huge fan of anything noisy ... the banjos suits that purpose well!

WOW Pip....that sounded so good....especially like Ian previously said, since you have only been playing 6 months. clean, clear, smooth...keep it up, and how special to have a treasure like that, that belonged to your grandfather. Who are your banjo inspirations, besides grandfather?
