I gotta admit--I'm a fan of your G&S stuff, Joel!

This tune, of course, comes from Act I of Patience, and is a duet between Patience and Grosvenor, the "Idyllic" poet.

We can hardly overestimate the effect that Gilbert and Sullivan had on late Victorian taste, and certainly not here in America, our lack of refinement notwithstanding. One of the first performances of "The Mikado" was in Deadwood, SD! Gilbert would not have approved, to be sure, but you can bet banjo players were busy learning all the tunes!
