Thank you for this.  I am not absolutely convinced about abandoning Old Faithful in its extreme old age, but it has a few cranky mannerisms which I could do without.  We shall see.

GT banjos are very good because when playing on stage , you don 't need  the engineer put the lights on you : you are auto lightened, the banjo & you because  the metal pièces of the Bjs  , engineered in China , came from steel of ex USSR nuclear submarines and it ' s rich in becquerels ;

I have a Goldtone bass banjo, no much to it volume and tone wise until you plug it into a bass amp - nice substitute for bass guitar and goes well with a ceilidh band.
