Joe Morley's "Freckles" (finger style 5-string banjo)

Excellent.

The banjo sounds steel strung. Do you have steel strings on it?

Steel strung?  It sounds the way a nylon strung banjo should sound to me, clear and sharp.  Greg plays with fingernails which add a little more crispness, but not that much.

Great playing Greg!

Thanks for the comments. Yes, they are nylon strings--Savarez carbon series. I love this tune.

Brilliant tune, brilliant sound and brilliant playing!

Good to see you again Greg and thanks for playing "Freckles" as it is one of my favourites too.

I made a video of Freckles some time ago, so it is great to hear it played properly ;-)

I love that true "classic banjo" sound.

edit:  Mrsthereallyniceman was eavesdropping while I was playing the video and there was shout of "Superb" at the end... I think that she liked it too!

Completely awesome, Greg!

A favorite tune, played like it was meant to be played. Ol' Joe is smiling!

Fantastic playing.

Very nice playing! Thanks too for showing us that the third finger can be actively used in classic banjo, contrary to what all the old tutor books say. The notes that your third finger makes flow in quite well. Also, the placement of your little finger near and even behind the bridge with the other fingers picking within a couple of inches of the bridge gives a nice crisp sound. Thanks for the video!
