Sylvia had trouble uploading. So I have had a go and all seems to work for me!

Great performance Sylvia or perhaps we should call you "Hot fingers" Sylvia  :-)

Thank you Ian for the help in uploading.  Your comments are too kind. I do need some feedback on that background noise on the last one , it must have been something to do with the mic. but I don't know what. The first two were recorded on the same lap top so can't think what the problem was.

Very nice picking! Those exercises are deceptively tricky to play, you did a very good job. 5*

Really good banjo tone Sylvia, well played.

Hey, Sylvia – well done!  I still haven’t got the nerve to put myself on video, so am deeply envious that you have.  They are not easy pieces:  I’ve been working on Nos 1 to 3, and haven’t yet got to No. 12, but I like the sound of that one and may just fast-forward to it.  What banjo are you playing? It has a lovely sound. Cheers, Liz

Hi Liz, I havn't done all twelve yet, but like you I liked No. 12.and jumped to that before I did exercise 2. I don't think there is any harm in choosing  the exercises that you like and leaving the ones you don't like.  You can always go back to those when you have learnt the ones you do like. If you see what I mean : )

The banjo is a Parslow, I bought it a couple of months ago and love it.

Have a go at doing a video, it's sort of interesting. I had to ditch loads of takes and even then I wasn't satisfied. Mike also reckoned he ditched quite a few doing his first video, so join the club and... "Have a Go ".....  Cheers ,  Sylvia.

Well played Sylvia, smashing tone!

I would caution against having your strap tied to the head-stock though, it can pull the banjo out of tune.

Hi David, thank you for the comment, and advice re the strap,  there dosn't seem anywhere else to put it so I think I  may have a go at doing without it and  will let you know how I get on.

Hi, could I suggest tying it to the first or second bracket below the heel? That way you can keep a good posture with the 'jo. Morley had a sling which just went round his neck and then clipped onto the top of the 'jo. So it could take the weight and present the 'jo in the right position. He played standing up.

Hi David, thank you for the advice, will give all the ideas a go. Have seen Banjo slings advertised along with the Banjo straps so  might just send for one.
