This is a superb performance of Nola.  It seems "just right" for the banjo!

Great stuff Dave!

This has been on my 'must do' list for the last 45 years. I first played it as youngster when I was learning piano accordion, I still have the accordion arrangement. Your excellent playing has inspired me to give it a go...Steve.

Glad to be of inspiration Steve - go for it!!

Do you do all your own arrangements Dave? Nola is a real struggle for duffers, like me, to play. It looks so easy when you play it, you must be missing notes out !!  ;-)

Hi Ian - I found this version in a banjo book called "50 Five String Banjo Solos" arranged by Jim Kelly - published by Soodlums. I think the book is out of print now. I did have to alter the way I played some of the notes to make it easier - particularly halfway through the A part! It is a tricky piece to play for sure. At some point I would like to make another video, except play it a little faster so it has more of a bounce and change the arrangement so it involves a better intro and some chromatic runs .... watch this space!
