I had read somewhere that Remo made the Elite heads too, but the fibreskin that I had on my Special XX was a yellow colour and the one on Tony's is mainly white. That is why I thought that there may be a difference.
Jody, I was really surprised that it was my right hand that found the playing more difficult. It is difficult to describe why.. it was as though the strings were more rigid and harder to pick.
I didn't really notice a difference in the action, but there may well have been.
Remo is on their 3rd iteration of the Fiberskyn heads. They're now called "Fiberskyn 3". I have seen them in various subtle shades, my first one looked blue in daylight, white indoors. I just mounted one for a friend and it had a yellow cast to it. Some of the early ones were not particularly well done and the fibers would easily scratch off the mylar (esp. with metal picks).
Tiny changes make a lot of difference sometimes. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that if a banjoist sneezed in Sussex, my action would feel different for a few minutes. ;-)
