Thank you for your welcome. Steve you are quite right. When I hear OH playing I certainly do know where he is. He's practising his latest piece at the moment so I know he's out of trouble. I know he should be doing the housework, Sylvia but I've let him off for today and he did mow the lawn yesterday! He made me a cuppa this morning so he's in good favour at the moment.
Mike, his piece of the moment is a medley of different songs and maybe he'll ask for an accompaniment - we'll have to see. I've been accompanying most of my life in one form or another - Sunday School, primary school, high school and in my teaching job (retired now!!!!) so I'm used to being in the background. It's easier that way. With arranging I'm a bit of a cheat as I work from the original music and mostly do 'bum chings' (that's a musical term!). Not having a very good musical ear I'm soon told when my compositions don't sound correct and so it's back to the drawing board. What I like best is 'live music' where there is subtle interaction between the players affecting dynamics and tempo. I loved your video of you playing and the cat performing. I know that was an out take but the performance of a piece alters in different circumstances with - the setting, the people and even the animals.
Music should be fun and fulfilling - Sylvia skiving off the housework and gardening, Steve knowing someone is listening somewhere and Mike playing with different camera shots illustrate this. I hope to see many more 'performances' here. They don't have to be perfect, that doesn't really matter as long as people are enjoying themselves.
