Dear All. Is anyone aware of a software tool or calculation method that tells us what the optimum gauge of string [nylon or steel] we should use ? I have always purchased standard sets of strings…Continue

I've been reading about the Goldtone ML-1 baritone banjo. Something completely new to me. Has anyone used this instrument for classic banjo playing and with nylon strings ? Thanks. Dave Continue

I'm looking for sheet of music of Alfred Cammeyer published in tablature if at all possible. Does anyone know if tablature versions of "All Alone" and "Albumblatt" exist anywhere ? Many thanks. Dave Continue

Dear All. As noted in my previous post, I play a modern 5-string Goldtone Cello banjo which I have arbitrarily tuned to E and absolutely love it. The 14 inch head gives the instrument a loud and…Continue

I was thinking of trying to set this up as a 5-string cello banjola tuned an octave below the normal banjo tuning. The…See More

"Hi Anthony.  Thanks for your suggestion about the Goldtone CB4 cello banjo. I totally agree with you and have played the 5-string version for a few years arbitrarily tuned to E. I find it a very nice instrument to play albeit that I am still…"

"I used to won a very old cello banjo which was a beast to play, and almost impossible to keep in tune.  I eventually purchased a GoldTone CB4 cello banjo, and I have to say I love it.  Good sound, keeps in tune, and quite enough frets for…"

"Thanks again Joel.  I would love to play an original cello banjo but I have never seen one for sale. I used to own a SS Stewart orchestra banjo with a 13 inch head which was superb. I still regret selling it to this day, but a very bad episode…"

"Gold Tone is a weird company.  They kind of get close to the mark, but not quite.   Take, for example, your "cello banjo".  The basis for this was a tenor banjo cello, or a tenor banjo pitched one octave below the…"
