I've made a Weaver type tail piece out of maple and fitted it to my Windsor popular 3. I was curious to hear if it made a difference to the tone. I've also fitted Nylgut strings for the first time and together it sounds very crisp and pleasant to the ear.

That's a clever modification. What are you holding it on with?

I've used a piece of 2.5 mm nylon strimmer cord. Before fitting, I attached about 4' of cord to one of the roof beams in my workshop and hung a bucket full of bricks on to the other end and let it stretch for 24 hrs, gradually adding more weight until it reached its elastic limit and broke. This ensured that all the stretch had gone out of it.
