I think that this is a much better photograph than the one usually seen of him sitting in a chair looking slightly camp :-)

Was Emile Grimshaw ever in the Home Guard? I can imagine the scene...

 

Cpt. Mainwaring: "You're frequently seen to be sitting like that, private Grimshaw."

(Imitates Grimshaw's pose. Grimshaw laughs.)

Cpt. Mainwaring: "Oh, it's all very well to laugh. It only takes a couple inches more and you'll be taken for one of those nancy boys!"

What worries me is that if this a photo from the 1920's why is he wearing a Ban the Bomb badge.
