Hi Ian.

As requested, here are some extracts from the mid-1890's SSS Catalogue. The Special Thoroughbred (top) was available finished similar to the $60.00 Orchestra (next below),  which appears to have a party frock very much like yours. We can surmise that yours is likely a $60.00 No. 3 Special Thoroughbred. 

As with several other SSS models, the Orchestra was advertised in 3 Grades, and additional appointments were available for the No 3 only.  The No 3 Orch. (bottom pic, highlighted text) started at $50.00 and went up from there, to $150.00.    There is no No. 4 in the catalogue.
