Look at the picture of my Weaver, it may help. The tube fitted to the ends of the hook nuts is a piece of car fuel pipe. Make holes in the pipe to line up with the nuts and push it onto the nuts. It stops the banjo slipping and holds it away from your leg. It may work for your problem....Steve.

One simple solution for rough hook threads is to apply a bead of Elmers or Titebond glue to the end of them. One thick coat usually works but add more coats if needed. The glue can alway be loosened and removed with a water soaked rag if need be.
