I think that Stromberg-Voisinet is a manufacturer name.

Yes, I believe Voisinet is/was a person's name. The company started out (in Chicago) as "Stromberg" and then became "Stromberg-Voisinet" and then "Kay". By the 1950's Kay banjos were "bottom of the barrel" (ie, cheapest you could buy). I've had one and worked on several of the 1950's Kays...awful, simply awful. The 1920's S-Vs are quite nice and this uke appears to be no different. The Stewart Uke could have been made by anyone...most were made well after the original company was long gone.

 

I like 'em both!!
