d be played?… no not how to move your fingers up and down, but the order in which the score’s sections are to be played!
On page 1 there is a Segno at Bar 9,
At the 2nd time bar the repeated section on page 2 there is DS al Fine (which means back to the Segno at Bar 9 then to the Fine)
The Fine is shown at the end of the top of Page 2
Thus half of the second page 2 and all of page 3 are not played !!! :-)
Does anyone own a recording or can explain the order that it should be played?…
e beginner (with a sound basic knowledge of the instrument and music reading) as well as the more advanced student and will cover, through intensive study, all the main aspects of finger-style banjo playing with particular regard to the following; solo and ensemble playing, interpretation, technical development, fingering, sight reading and practice methods.
This will be achieved through relaxed and friendly classes involving both tutor and group feedback. All sheet music will be provided, however students should provide their own copies of any solo repertoire they would like to present in the classes. The course will culminate in an informal concert featuring some of the solo and ensemble music covered during the course.

d/modified the tune to suit. When I transposed it all to C notation, the tuning came up a minor third to (f#DGA#D) but it is a bit more easily played with the A# raised to B.
Since it is written in 4 sharps (Emaj, F#,C#,G#,D#), the pickup measure would read | G# A | not | G Ab |.
Just for fun, I've attached my modified versions (the mp3 is the Gmaj version) in both the original and transposed to Gmaj. I should fix that B part...it just doesn't work!

Marc - Following the score literally, the first line (including the pickup measure) looks likeG Ab | B A B C# B G E . | B F# G# B d# . . . | B F# G# B d# B G# F# | E . d# . d# B G Ab...which cannot possibly be right. But if we ignore the instructions and leave the second string as-is (meaning at G# rather than G natural), we getG# A | B A B C# B G# E . | B F# A B d# . . . | B F# A B d# B A F# | E . d# . d# B G# ATransposed up to concert pitch, that becomesB C | D C D E D B G . | D A C D f# . . . | D A C D f# D C A | G . f# . f# D B CSo yes, it's a G major melody with the high f# used in the context of D7, but the tuning must be f#DGBD, not f#DGA#D. Something must have been lost in translation between the editor and publisher because the tuning instructions are not correct.
