Hello Sylvia and Rob!

It's been a hard day's night,
I should be sleepin' in my bed.
It's been a hard day's night,
And I was surfin' in the net...
I was terrible tired and suddenly I saw a wee window on the screen with a tiny arrow. As I saw the videos with the Grimshaw exercises (with tab! Thanks a lot!) I wrote "Grimshaw" into that little window and clicked on the arrow, conscious that I would find more about him...
but then I was told that I had just posted a tune called "Grimshaw". And I could't find the electronic eraser...
Sorry, but my banjo playing is not good enough to appear here on stage.
Instead of that I thought about contributing some sheet music of pieces they played in Germany (Salonmusik) while they were playing classic banjo in other parts of the world.
Good night, sleep well,
Ewe.

Hello Sylvia,
Rob called my attention to the last chord in my tab of "Frolicking On The Prom".
And of course he was right that it was wrong! (I wrote the tab when I first transcribed tunes to banjo tabs.) So I worked it over and also made it easier to play in some parts.
I try to send the new tab to you. I had difficulties to send it to Rob. So, for a new try:

I hope there is nothing serious with your banjo. The neck of my banjo broke from the pot at the dowel stick two weeks ago. I have to bring it to the banjo doctor (which we don't have too many here in Germany).
To answer your question: I play fiddle in an old time string band ("Four Potatoes")for cowboys, trappers, contra and square dances, birthday parties, christenings, weddigs, divorces... Then I also play in rockabilly band ("Devils und Soehne") since a year (that's quite a different building site!). You see, there's not really time left for the Orchestra (I play with them now and then, and I like it).

I wish you much fun with the tune,
good night,
Ewe.

Hello Sylvia,
Thanks for your message. In answer to your question, I'm based in West Byfleet, Surrey - not too far from the IoW! Beeen playing banjo for just under a year now so still a bit of a beginner but I'm making some progress. Since that photo was taken, the banjo has had a bit of a clean-up and a new calf skin head fitted - I'll upload a new photo soon. Best, Liz

Hi Sylvia..Our local festivals are at Upton upon Severn in Worcestershire and Bromyard in Herefordshire. Google them and you'll easily find there respective websites. I have played in a  banjo  ensemble Upton in the past when I was a member of the International Banjo Circle but minor health issues and time constraints limit what I can do these days.

Hi sylvia

yes im afraid its very much a mans world when it comes to the banjo

My late dad always used to say I turned heads when I played the banjo I used to think he meant it was because I was good ha ha.

Now i realize its because I was female the only female ha ha  so glad to see another female x

Hi Shirlee, I reckon the lack of female players is because we are usually so busy looking after out menfolk and families and parents that there just isn't anytime left over :) x

Hey Shirlee  I like that idea of more women playing the banjo, don't know how it could be managed though.  Although having said that......I have on a couple of occasions entered the local music festival in the singing section accompanying myself on guitar, and I did wonder about banjo instead of guitar accompaniment. As far as I know no one here ( on the Isle of Wight ) has done it before. This years music festival had just gone and I'm finding banjo accompaniment just a different ball game at the moment to guitar.    Did think about using a gourd banjo. that might get some interest  :)  Oh... I'm on my own too. offspring has flown the nest and has young of her own and I'm a widow.   I hate that word .xx
