I follow Mimmo Peruffo of Aquila on FaceBook, and he has just put up an announcement of new bionylon strings for classic banjos. To illustrate, he plays some ragtime on a cheap banjo. So far he has not got them to the level of marketing, but is thinking about it. Unfortunately I can’t share his videos - not technically possible, but this what he had to say:
“This is the very first test on a pretty new version of banjo strings that are made with Sugar bio plastic and a lot of micronized Iron powder.
The set called banjo Red Series employ Nylgut and less quantity of metal powder so it is less brilliant than this set.
I am thinking to put it into the market.
It is not suitable with the metal nails as in use on the metal strung Bluegrass banjos.”
