Here's a nice thing  - the Gunners March played by traditional Norfolk dulcimer player Billy Bennington.

Billy loved marches and said he often learned them from military bands on the radio.

Something originally composed for banjo played on a different instrument. What an unusual turnaround from the more usual situation.

I did a bit of quick research and discovered  that Norfolk, all of East Anglia, and even a bit beyond had been a hotbed of (hammered) dulcimer music.   Coincidently, another Norfolk,  the one in Virginia (USA) is where 5-string banjoist Bill Evans is from. Before he took up the banjo he had been an accomplished dulcimer hammerer.  Right there – in Norfolk.

I don't know, but doubt if he also played any tunes written for the banjo, but have a listen to Billy Cooper. He is on some of the 'Voice Of The People' volumes on Spotify.

If he did, could he play The Donkey Laugh?  I'd love to hear that on dulcimer.
