Hello folks!
This weekend I scanned and uploaded the contents of a file folder containing manuscript written by Fred Bacon. This was collected by Cliff Spaulding who studied banjo with Bacon and maintained a lifelong friendship.
Some of the pieces include, "Ghost Dance" (I think photocopies of this have been floating around, here is a clean scan of the original document), "West Lawn Polka", "Massas in the Cold Cold Ground", "Old Black Joe", "Weston's Minor Jig", and a pretty good arrangement of "Under the Double Eagle".
I think this is the first time that most of these have been made available. Note that some of them have playing suggestions penciled in in Bacon's hand. As a bonus, Bacon has nice handwriting so this stuff is easy to read.
