I was shocked and saddened this morning to hear the news of the earthquake off the coast of Sendai. I hope our members are well and safe, and that your country makes a quick recovery from this disaster.

It is so sad.

I hate the way that the "Authorities" announce the casualties. First it was 6 dead... then 30, then 100's, then 1000...then...?

Perhaps they are trying to break the news gently but it was plainly, and painfully, obvious that this was a major catastrophe and that loss of life would be enormous.

My heart goes out to all concerned and their families, banjo players or not!  Please let it not be as bad as it appears to be and let it not get any worse.

Ian

They only have about a thousand confirmed dead; but there are 88,000 missing, so the count will keep going up for quite a while.

They found the ship that washed out of the shipyard and rescued the work crew but the train that ran along the coast is probably in the bottom of the bay.

With the communications jammed by emergency crews, it may be a while before we hear from the people over there.
