Here is a banjo arrangement of a favorite Irish hornpipe, "The Plains of Boyle" transposed from D to C. It plays ok in D but the banjo sound seems better in C.  My arrangement is influenced by piper Willy Clancy's glorious setting.  Attached is staff notation, a banjo recording, and a midi to for the purpose of hearing the chords.  I notated it in straight time but it is meant to be played with some swing as the midi and banjo recording will show. I played the tune twice, the first time according to the written arrangement (which is based on a recording of me playing freely) and a second time just playing the tune without being distracted by a printed page.
