Sad news indeed, Alf was a true gentleman and accomplished banjo and guitar player. I had the pleasure of knowing Alf for over twenty years. We met every week for an evening of banjo playing and chat until I moved to Cyprus. Although the banjo was the mutual subject of discussion I would marvel at some of the experiences he encountered whilst serving in the Navy on an armed merchant ship with the North Atlantic Fleet during the second world war.
Alf was also an accomplished ballroom dancer and had won many competitions over the years, his knowledge of music and keeping strict time helped develop his dancing skills.
Dear Alf will be sadly missed by his relatives and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
