Ridgeway Banjo Rally 2010
This year's rally will be held in the village hall at Ridgeway on May 8th, 2010, commencing at 12 noon and finishing at 5.00 p.m.
The rally will follow the usual format, there will be informal playing of the banjo throughout the event, interspersed with the usual popular competitions, the usua...l banjo jumble will be for sale, the Harry Everett Memorial pint will be taken at 3.00 p.m. in the 'Swan Inn', followed by the enormously popular banjo quiz.
The community banjo pieces for this year will be announced after due deliberation by t'committee, any other pieces which members may wish to play 'ensemble' should be brought to the attention of the organisers - Pat Doyle, Mike Redman, Anthony Peabody, Lady Trentham, Gerald Seymour or Richard Ineson.
Everyone is welcome to attend and play at this event, in past years we have stipulated that only the finger style banjo could be played, this was in deference to the quieter voice of our instrument but, in recent years, the plectrum banjo has been featured and we have found that our previous fears were unfounded and we would welcome banjoists of any persuasion to come along and entertain fellow banjo enthusiasts.
Anyone who has a banjo or banjo music or bits and pieces of banjo jumble which they would like to sell, bring them along, if you have a financially successful day, make a contribution to the hire of the hall etc. if you meet with consumer resistance there is no charge.
There will be the usual famous pork sandwiches and other modestly priced, good quality, refreshments provided by Bernadette and her team, alcohol is available in the conveniently adjacent 'Swan Inn'.
