I agree regarding the comparative harmonic practices, but that's what I find wonderful about the banjo, in that it can easily absorb different fashions, be they rythmic, melodic, or harmonic. But maybe Cammeyer was compelled to reinvent the banjo physically in order to express his musical language. I dare say some people at the time were openly questioning what he was doing, but at least in England he found a supportive audience for his new-fangled banjo, with arguably greater expressive qualities. I've no qualms about admitting that it is his music, and the more musically progressive pieces of Frank Converse, and occasionally others, that keeps me coming back to play the banjo. As a listener, though, I like it all. Sunflower Dance, one more time! :-)
I forgot he had composed Yeomans' Call (one of Olly Oakley's best records) - I recall you previously posted a great video of this tune, Jody. 'To the Front!' is another good one.
That's a really lovely sound you get out of that instrument, Rob. I guess I will again try the Cammeyer set on my Zb.
Do you have a video or a recording of A Fireside Idyll? I have been looking at that and would love to hear it.

I don't have the music in front of me and haven't tried it out for a while, but if I can remember correctly, it sounds different from the version I have. Are there more than one? Although my memory might be wrong...
I haven't looked at the score since 2011, so can't comment. I might have made very minor changes to make it work for plectrum. I honestly can't remember.
