Carrie Horgan found this superb video from site member Peter LaBau on Youtube. I have linked this in the videos section so that all can view it. Peter does an excellent job discussing the origins of Classic Banjo and plays some wonderful tunes, so get a coffee, sit down and relax for half an hour and be entertained!

Hi Terry,

Joe Morley's most famous piece has been a victim of current sensibilities for the past.

The title at the time of composition was "Niggertown" but this is nowadays often changed to Morleytown, Dashtown, Darktown, Joe Morley's Cakewalk or other variations.

The original score is available under its original title in the MUSIC LIBRARY
