This is exactly the type of lively discussion I would like to see more of here, it is after all a site devoted to the interests of classic players, Jody, my description of "not the best" or whatever I wrote was a genuine comment regarding my playing, I consider myself a guitarist first and always and am under no illusions regarding my banjo playing, it is average at best, when I see myself on film I see a guitarist playing like a guitarist, no problem, I can live with that I just enjoy those particular tunes which I think come out pretty good on a banjo, I would just like more talking commenting discussing , who cares about great or average or shabby playing ? It is all good, we are in danger of growing like the bluegrass crowd, always looking backwards, lets talk about what is happening right now right here not always 100 year old cylinders, Mike I intend to be at Backwell next year so, I hope the beer is as good as you make it sound.
An impressive number of younger players attended the Midland Banjo Festival this year, thats good news, most filmed their own spots and I fully expected to see those posted here, they were not ! It is a shame because a lot of it was worth seeing/hearing. maybe if I can obtain the individuals permission I will film some more performers next time and perhaps post them, I would love to get talking about the way things are out there right now.
Sean Moyses, attended this year for the first time, he gave a brilliant performance,
which can be viewed on Facebook.
Inshould add that Sean plays Plectrum Style and Banjolele.
Sorry I should have. Said YOU TUBE, for Sean Moyses spot !
