Typical, I thought that I has got over my Van Eps flush fret envy ;-)

First class. It is good few years now since John died but we know that he lives on on Classic Banjo Ning !!

John did very well with his FVE flush fret banjo.  The scallop between the frets gives a real clarity to each note.  I found that the extra frets and longer scale length resulted in a left hand stretch that was often beyond me, given my pork sausage fingers.  As you can see from the picture, John had ballerina fingers by comparison.  Sad to say, age takes its toll and no matter what fingers you start out with they all end up painful and uncontrollable.  Something to look forward to, eh? Play the banjo while you still can or you may be reduced to talking about it all the time.
