Not many people got to see John play classic banjo, so to appreciate the virtuoso we have just lost I have pulled this duet from the archive.  It shows him playing one of his favourite pieces with his characteristic verve and attack.  Why he wanted the music in front of him, I don't know, as he always tried to commit his current repertoire to memory.

I'm too new to classic banjo to have met or even known of John, but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing him play in this tribute video. My condolences. Losing people we've made music with is very hard ...
