This is the Shakepeare Inn, the first building in the photograph, on the left. All the other buildings were demolished in the late 1960s. The other pub in the middle of the picture, was called The Sportsman, and was know locally as 'The Boiler' because a giant steam boiler, being delivered to a local factory, ran away and partly demolished the pub.

There is another picture of this pub, from the 1920 era, on 'Picture Sheffield' just put Shakespeare Inn, Well Road, Sheffield, UK. This picture is a full frontal and the licensee's name, over the door appears to be Champion.
